Erectile dysfunction seized in Glengormley
8 April 2011
Large amounts of unlicensed medicines have been taken by Department of Health officials during a search of a home in Glengormley.
A male was talked to by department officers about unlawfully importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medications via the web.
The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offenses.
He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.
The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.
Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, stated: "It is vital that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medications can be unsafe.
"These types of products being offered, usually online, have actually gone through no quality assurance and there can be no warranty about their security.
"You merely do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More significantly, you do not know the effect drugs like this might have on your health."
