The Middle East is a region where car is king and fuel is cheap, often leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving around.

But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have risen the rate of oil, the issue of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.

In a region that has among the highest carbon footprints on the planet, one organization is taking benefit of the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's very first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving profitable too, currently their contains McDonald's.
